A rare opportunity to acquire a very early example of the Mercedes-Benz R107 350 SL, from the first year of production.

This European-specification 350 SL was first registered in Germany on 1 July 1971 and is chassis 107043-12-002188, making it one of the early production cars from the first model year of the R107.

The car is equipped with the original-generation 3.5-litre M116.982 V8 with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection, together with the desirable early four-speed automatic transmission. The factory data card confirms the car’s original specification.

History

The car’s original German documentation accompanies it and records its first registration in Frankfurt am Main in July 1971. The registration history subsequently records the car in Dresden, before it was brought to Finland in February 2001. Since then, same owner in Finland.

In 2013 it was stored in a heated garage, it has therefore spent the past approximately 13 years protected from the Finnish elements rather than being exposed to regular road use.

It was removed from storage in September 2026 and the below was recently carried out.

• Engine service and oils changed
• New front/rear brake callipers, hoses and pads
• New road inspection (MOT/TUV)

Condition

The car presents very well for its age. The body is straight and the metallic red paint has a deep, attractive appearance. The parchment interior is remarkably well preserved, and the car retains its characteristic early-R107 appearance and equipment.

The underside is also unusually presentable, with the suspension, differential, exhaust and floor structures clearly visible in the accompanying photographs.

Both the original-style hardtop and soft top are included.

For an enthusiast looking for an early, genuine European 350 SL with documented German provenance, two tops and original factory documentation, this is an especially interesting example.
