An early Ford Escort 1300 Sport with a two-dial dash and separate top mounted tachometer is extremely rare, other features for this version were the padded steering wheel with silvers spokes.

Early, unmodified Mark I Ford Escorts are sought-after by collectors. While a two-dial dash indicates a basic trim level, the combination of the flared bodywork and the GT-spec engine makes the early 1300 Sport a classic in its own right.

Pre-1973 models:

The six-dial dashboard wasn’t introduced to the 1300 Sport and XL models until late 1973. Before that, these models came with the two-dial dash, similar to the GT.

Rarity:

Due to the changes in trim, early 1300 Sports with two-dial dashes are becoming increasingly rare and highly sought after by collectors, especially in good condition.

For Sale:

On offer we have a very well-preserved example in original condition. It has been re-painted externally at some stage, but internal areas still look to be original paint. Thanks to the rust protection in the early years, the underneath has been preserved well. Being stored in a heated garage and only being driven in the summer has also helped.

The current owner has owned it since 2010, the owner before him owned it for a while and had it registered as a museum vehicle in 2006, prior to him the car had been owned by the same family since new.
