ALFA ROMEO 2000 GT VELOCE
A highly distinctive Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce with reported Scandinavian competition history, FIA Historic Technical Passport documentation and a genuine period-style competition specification.
This is not a recently converted road car dressed up as a racer. According to the accompanying Finnish museum certificate, the car was converted for competition use when new by the Swedish Alfa Romeo importer and was fitted with racing and safety equipment from new.
The same documentation records that the car was subsequently raced by Anders Köijer and Bo Nilsson in Sweden.
The car was later imported from Sweden to Finland and restored. It was formally inspected and awarded Finnish historic vehicle certification in 2013.
The FIA HTP documentation also provides contemporary photographic evidence of the car in its competition configuration.
The physical chassis stamping AR115030001776 has been photographed on the car and corresponds with the number recorded in both the Finnish museum certificate and FIA Historic Technical Passport.
Engine is physically stamped AR0051258881, consistent with the 1,962 cc Alfa Romeo 2000 engine family.
Â
Inside, the car has been developed toward a road-going historic racer, retaining half of the roll cage and competition seating while making the car considerably more usable than a fully stripped racing car.
The current owner has never raced the car. Instead, after purchasing it approximately 11 years ago, he developed the interior toward a road/track-oriented specification and used the car on the road.
This means the current owner’s use is distinct from the documented earlier competition history.
It is road registered and comes with a Finnish EU registration certificate.
The car retains a very purposeful competition-oriented interior and chassis setup, including:
Â
ENGINE
The 1,962 cc Alfa Romeo twin-cam engine was rebuilt approximately five years ago specifically for competition use.
This is an important point for anyone looking for a usable historic Alfa rather than a purely cosmetic restoration. The engine rebuild was undertaken with competition use in mind, while retaining the characteristic Alfa Romeo twin-cam architecture.
The engine bay is clean and purposeful, with competition-style details including the exhaust/header arrangement and competition-oriented cooling/oil installation.
Â
BODY & INTERIOR
The car has subsequently been repainted in red and presents extremely well
The bodywork has the unmistakable proportions of the Bertone 105-series coupé, with excellent visual presence and a particularly purposeful stance.
A CAR WITH A STORY
What makes this particular 2000 GTV especially compelling is the combination of:
Swedish origin → period competition preparation → documented Swedish drivers → Finnish restoration → museum certification → FIA Historic Technical Passport → competition-specification engine rebuild.
The chassis number AR11503*0001776 ties the documentation and the car together.
The 2015 FIA HTP photograph is particularly valuable because it provides a dated visual record of the car’s competition configuration.
For the serious Alfa Romeo enthusiast, historic racer or collector, this is therefore considerably more interesting than an ordinary restored 2000 GTV.
Â
Cars like this sit in an interesting category: usable Alfa Romeo 105-series performance cars with a documented competition narrative and FIA historic documentation, rather than ordinary road cars subsequently converted into racers.
The car would suit an enthusiast looking for a highly charismatic road/track Alfa, a historic motorsport collection, or someone wishing to investigate and potentially document its Swedish racing history further.
