Race Retro Autos Auction

A specialist Finnish auction platform for classic, retro and enthusiast vehicles — connecting exceptional cars in Finland with buyers around the world.

Welcome to Race Retro Autos Auctions — a specialist Finnish auction platform for classic, retro and enthusiast vehicles.

Our auctions connect interesting and carefully selected vehicles located in Finland with enthusiasts and collectors around the world.

Every vehicle is reviewed before being accepted for auction. Whether you’re looking for a classic, a youngtimer, a performance car, a rare European model or something genuinely different, our auctions give you the opportunity to bid from anywhere in the world.

How Our Auctions Work

1. Find Your Next Car

Browse our live and upcoming auctions and explore the vehicles currently available.

Each auction listing provides detailed information about the vehicle, including its specification, history, condition and known defects, together with photographs and other available material.

Buyers are encouraged to carefully review all available information and, where appropriate, arrange an inspection or appoint an independent representative before bidding.

2. Register to Bid

You must create a Race Retro Autos account before placing a bid.

Bidders must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate registration information.

A valid credit card is required when registering to bid. The card is used for the 6% Buyer’s Fee + VAT and does not constitute payment for the vehicle itself.

3. Place Your Bid

Bids must meet the applicable minimum bid increment. Our bid increments are:

Current BidMinimum Increment
€0 – €999€25
€1,000 – €4,999€50
€5,000 – €9,999€100
€10,000 – €24,999€250
€25,000 – €49,999€500
€50,000+€1,000

Bids are intended to be binding. Before placing a bid, make sure you understand the vehicle, the bid amount, the Buyer’s Fee and any applicable taxes or other charges.

4. Ten Days of Bidding

Each auction runs for 10 days.

A vehicle may be offered with a reserve price or without reserve. Where a reserve applies, the reserve price is the minimum amount at which the seller has agreed to sell the vehicle.

5. Extended Bidding

We don’t want a last-second bid to decide an auction before other bidders have a fair opportunity to respond.

If a bid is placed during the final 2 minutes of an auction, the auction clock is extended by another 2 minutes.

Every new qualifying bid during the extended period resets the clock to 2 minutes.

The auction ends when no further qualifying bids are placed during the final two-minute period.

6. Auction Ends

If the reserve has been met, the highest qualifying bidder becomes the winning buyer.

If the reserve has not been met, the seller may still choose to accept the highest bid. Alternatively, the seller and highest bidder may enter into negotiations after the auction.

Buying at Auction

A 6% Buyer’s Fee

The winning buyer pays a 6% Buyer’s Fee based on the Hammer Price, plus applicable 25.5% VAT.

For example:

Hammer Price: €20,000
Buyer’s Fee: €1,200
VAT on Buyer’s Fee: 25.5%
Vehicle purchase price: €20,000

The applicable taxes and charges will be shown in the relevant transaction documentation.

The Buyer’s Fee is separate from the Hammer Price.

Payment

Following a successful auction, the winning buyer has 7 days to complete payment for the vehicle.

Payment for the vehicle is made through Koskin Import, our official payment and transport partner.

Payment to the seller is released only after the vehicle has been handed over by the seller and the buyer has confirmed the handover, or after Koskin Import has collected the vehicle.

This process is designed to provide a clear and structured transaction between the winning buyer and seller.

Collection & Transport

The buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for collection or transportation of the vehicle.

You can arrange transportation yourself, or Koskin Import can assist with collection and transport.

This is particularly useful for international buyers purchasing a vehicle from Finland.

International buyers should ensure that they understand the import, customs, taxation, registration and road-use requirements in their destination country before bidding.

Race Retro Autos can provide general assistance and, through Koskin Import, help facilitate transportation, but the buyer remains responsible for ensuring that the vehicle can legally be imported and registered in their country.

Buying From Finland — Wherever You Are

All vehicles offered through Race Retro Autos Auctions are located in Finland, but our auctions are open to buyers internationally.

We welcome collectors, enthusiasts, dealers and private buyers from around the world.

Whether you’re in Finland, another European country or further afield, you can participate in our online auctions and arrange transportation of your purchase to your destination.

Your next car could be in Finland.

Selling Your Vehicle

Thinking of Auctioning Your Car?

We are looking for interesting classic, retro and enthusiast vehicles to bring to an international audience.

Private individuals and businesses can both submit vehicles for consideration.

The first step is simple:

Contact us with details of your vehicle.

We will review the information and determine whether the vehicle is suitable for a Race Retro Autos auction.

Every vehicle must be approved before it can be offered for auction.

What We Need From Sellers

Before a vehicle can be approved, we require documentation and information that allows us to establish the identity and ownership of the vehicle.

A registration certificate is required before approval so that we can check the registered owner and identify any outstanding finance or other relevant issues.

We will also require information about the vehicle’s:

  • Specification
  • Mileage
  • History
  • Ownership
  • Service and maintenance
  • Restoration or modification work
  • Condition
  • Known defects or faults
  • Current location
  • Registration and inspection status
  • Available documentation

Sellers are required to disclose known material faults and provide accurate information about the vehicle.

We Help Present Your Vehicle

Once a vehicle has been approved, we work with the seller to prepare the auction listing.

We can assist with:

  • Vehicle description
  • Specification
  • History and background
  • Condition information
  • Market positioning and valuation
  • Auction presentation
  • Photography
  • Video

Professional photography and video can be arranged where required.

Our aim is to give potential buyers as much relevant information as possible so they can make an informed decision before bidding.

Seller Fees

There is no standard published seller commission.

The seller’s fee is agreed individually with the seller before the vehicle is accepted for auction, with applicable VAT added where required.

The agreed terms will be confirmed before the auction goes live.

What Makes a Good Auction Car?

We are particularly interested in vehicles with character, history and enthusiast appeal.

This can include:

  • Classic cars
  • Retro cars
  • Youngtimers
  • Sports cars
  • Performance cars
  • Rare or unusual models
  • Well-preserved original vehicles
  • Restored vehicles
  • Interesting project cars
  • Special editions
  • Collectible and enthusiast-owned cars

We are interested in the story behind the car as well as the car itself.

Transparency Matters

Buying a classic or enthusiast vehicle is different from buying a new car.

Older vehicles can have age-related wear, previous repairs, modifications, restoration work and other characteristics that buyers should understand before bidding.

Auction listings may include photographs, videos, descriptions, specifications, documents and information supplied by the seller.

Buyers should carefully review the information provided and satisfy themselves regarding the vehicle’s condition, authenticity, history, mileage, specification and suitability before bidding.

Where appropriate, buyers are encouraged to inspect the vehicle personally or appoint an independent representative.
